Blogging Money Thebillivard                     The aims of the present experiments were to investigate the effects of social isolation rearing from weaning on anxiety using the rat elevated plus-maze, and to compare the effects of valproic acid on the plus-maze behaviors in socially and isolation reared rats.

These rats were placed individually onto the elevated plus-maze following intraperitoneal administration of saline or valproic acid (100 and 400 mg/kg) 30 min before a 5 min test.

Pretreatment with valproic acid (100 and 400 mg/kg i.p.) produced a dose related anxiolytic effect in both socially and isolation reared rats. This effect was indicated by increasing in the percentage of open:total arm entries and time, and significantly increase in time spent and the number of the end of open arm entries (P< 0.05) on the elevated plus-maze. These anxiolytic profiles of valproic acid were more pronounced in isolation reared rats.

Internet Home Business                     The purposess of the present studies were to investigate the effects of early life stress (social isolation rearing from weaning) on the open field behavior, and to compare the effect of ethanol on this behavior in socially and isolation reared rats.

After four weeks, both isolation and socially reared rats were exposed to an open field arena (an animal model of locomotor activity) either without drug pretreatment or following intraperitoneal injection of saline or ethanol (60 and 240 mg/kg) 30 min before a 5 min test.

Unclaimed Money                     The results demonstrated that isolation reared rats showed hyperlocomotion (as indicated by increasing total zone transitions), had significantly more number of rears than socially reared rats. Both socially and isolation reared rats spent more time in the outer zone (P<0.05), however, isolation reared rats exhibit more entries and spent longer time in the inner zone than the social reared rats. Pretreatment with ethanol (60 and 240 mg/kg i.p.) had no marked effect on total zone transitions in both socially and isolation reared rats. However, ethanol significantly decreased the number of inner zone entries and time spent in a dose related manner only in isolation reared rats.

Further studies will be required to determine whether there are alterations of GABA receptors and other central neurotransmitters.
