Vivisimo Wins FirstGov Contract to Build Next-Generation Search Portal

Vivsimo and MSN Search to Provide Search Backbone for Redesigned FirstGov Portal; Award-Winning Velocity Platform to Bring the Power of Federated Search and Clustering to FirstGov Users

Pittsburgh, PA, 22 September 2005 Viv simo (www.vivisimo.com), the creator of innovative software to access and cluster the world's information for better search and discovery, today announced that it has been selected to provide enhanced search results for the FirstGov Web portal at www.firstgov.gov. FirstGov will include government news and image search as new user features. As the official portal of the United States Government, FirstGov is visited every year by millions of citizens, non-profit organizations, businesses and federal employees.
As part of the agreement, Vivsimo teamed with Microsoft's MSN Search Web service to provide search results for the government domain. The MSN Search Web service includes extensive coverage of government documents in its index as well as a rich set of filtering-related operators. Vivsimo will leverage its Velocity software and Clusty Web search platforms to selectively crawl and metasearch federal and local government-related content and cluster the combined MSN Search and Viv simo results for easier navigation by FirstGov users.

This OGC move follows a Government announcement last week to create a portal making it easier for small businesses to apply for public sector contracts.
