Tech Data U.S. and EMC Establish Distribution Agreement for Federal Government IT Contracts

Expanded U.S. Relationship Helps Resellers Capitalize on Business Opportunities During the Federal Government Buying Season Now Through October

Tech Data will distribute EMC CLARiiON networked storage solutions, EMC Centera content addressed storage systems and EMC software to resellers targeting federal IT contracts. Tech Data is the only broadline distributor to offer these storage solutions to EMC-certified federal resellers.

"Tech Data's extensive reseller network and dedicated government sales team will enable EMC to further strengthen its channel presence and better serve federal IT solution providers and systems integrators throughout the U.S."

The organisations can publish their opportunities free of charge and the contract information is available to small businesses without a fee. Businesses can also register on the site, boosting their profile and presence in the market in which they operate. Over 10, 000 suppliers are already listed on the website. Teresa Graham, a member of the Small Business Council (SBC), said the move was a "step forward in the government's agenda to remove the barriers faced by small businesses when trying to find out about opportunities to work with government."

Internet Business Opportunity Tech Data offers government resellers a wide range of services including seasonal credit increases, bid-preparation, pre- and post-sale support and systems integration. By leveraging these and other Tech Data services such as the distributor's logistics expertise and e-business infrastructure, resellers are well positioned to pursue government IT contracts.

This OGC move follows a Government announcement last week to create a portal making it easier for small businesses to apply for public sector contracts.
