There used to be a great postcard that captured the essence of my hometown, Madison, Wisconsin. The photograph featured a beautiful aerial shot of the city, showing the 12-block-wide isthmus with the state Capitol in its center, the downtown and University of Wisconsin stretching east and west, and to the north and south, Lakes Mendota and Monona.
